I will have a tryout for tournament teams this Saturday May 19, 2012. I had previously given a time of noon and 1pm.  This has changed to 9:00am for 7-8 yr olds born between May 1, 2003 and April 30, 2005 at Ridge Hill upper field.  12 year old and under Pony tournament tryouts will be at 10am same place same day.  You must let your players know about this event so those who want to try get a chance.

Hot Dog Update

Our first Hot Dog Night will be Friday May 25 from 5-6:30PM.  I will be serving dogs free to the players but will be charging the parents and coaches to help pay for the event.  I could use some help, so please give me a call.  Even though your team may not be playing that night, please come out and enjoy a soda and a dog.

Rookies Coaches and Parents:

Turnout has been low so from now on we will have all three Rookie teams meet at game time every Saturday. Let's try to make it fun for the 4 yr olds and be sure we get a large enough turnout so they can have a game.

Coaches, please call your parents because not everyone checks their email.  Also, Rookies please encourage your players to come to Hot Dog night on the 25th.

Photos Welcome!

One last thing.  I wonder if you are all getting these updates.  On Rock Cats night I know a lot of you took pictures and I asked for you to please share with me but I have only received two.

We had a wonderful time at the New Britain Rock Cats game on Saturday night as 170 parents and players attended in support of our players.  The kids marched prior to the game and a group of players also gathered inside the dugout of the Rock Cats for photos and autographs. Photo attached. Those players took first base during the singing of the National Anthem.  I want to thank all coaches and parents for taking time out of your hectic lives to bring the kids to events like the one Saturday night.  Please forward to me any photos of the event that you would like to share.

And as we move forward through the season we hope you are getting some game time in between rain days. This coming week the clay for the in-fields at Ridge Hill is supposed to be spread by Public Works and Park and Rec.  We hope this process does not hurt any of our scheduled games, but if it does, please believe that it will be for the good of the kids to get better playing conditions.

Our next big event will be the Memorial Day Parade. We encourage all players to march down Dixwell with us as we celebrate our veterans and enjoy a fun event.  Our float will be available for the young 4 and 5 yr old players to ride in.  Photo attached. Please join us.  Details will follow.

If you have any questions or would like to make any suggestions to improve the league, please contact your coach or send me an email.

All fields are closed due to the weather and most likely they will not be playable on Thursday.  Please check with your coaches tomorrow and plan on playing on Friday and Saturday.

Don't forget to get your Rock Cats tickets this week.
I will take orders all the way up through the evening Friday.  All players planning on marching on the field will need to be in the stadium by 5:40pm.

Thank you.

Hot Dog Friday and Rock Cats Game Saturday

The season has begun and I want to thank all of you for making opening day a wonderful time for the players.  Coming up this week is Hot Dog Friday and the Rock Cats game on Saturday evening 6PM.  Tickets are now available for the Rock Cats game.  The Rock Cats are the affiliate of the Minnesota Twins located in New Britain and it is great big league baseball.  If you already purchased your tickets please meet me Tuesday or Friday at the field. If you need tickets you can pay your coach or find me.  $5 each.  All players will march on the field prior to the game and one player from each team in the Double A and Single A division will join the team in position for the National Anthem.

Hot Dog Nite
Hot Dog night will be held three times during the season so that each team can play a Friday evening game.  All players eat for free.  Three games will be going on all three fields, so come down, enjoy a game and a dog and support the league fundraiser this Friday.  Dogs are served from 5PM until 6:30PM.

Parents who took pictures during opening day and who would like to share with the rest of the league please reply and send me your photos. Coaches do not submit any photos to any newspapers without first submitting through the league.

Please try to make sure your players attend as many of the games as possible.  Baseball is a team sport and when you don't show up you are letting the team down.

Field Improvements
New clay will be spread on all fields at Ridge Hill over the next two weeks.  The Town approved a purchase order last week for new dirt and new benches in the dugouts. I have been trying to get these fields improved for many years and I am really happy for the kids. It will mean less games cancelled because the water would not run off.

If you have any questions or would like to offer a suggestion, please contact your coach or send me an email.
